Research at Faculty of Social and Political sciences of UMY examine various issues of each departments and interdisciplinary field. The research topics of the faculty are written as follows:
- Law establishment to create equitable society respecting human rights
- Cultural Revitalization, local wisdom transformation, and multiculturalism
- Contextualization of Islamic Law on National Law
- Socio-Religious harmony, conflict resolution, and peace
- Establishment of governance, non-governmental organizations (business), as well as clean and free of corruption bureaucracy
