Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is one of the oldest faculty at UMY. When established on March 1st, 1981, FISIPOL encompassed only one department, namely International Relations. Then, the other departments were established Governmental Studies in 1986, Communication Sciences in 1996.
The development has been getting better and is in line with the improvement of qualities of the learning-teaching process, research, and community services. The qualities were showed that three departments of FISIPOL achieved ‘A’ accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). First, International Relation gained the ‘A’ accreditation on November 15th, 2014 based on decree No. 451/SK/BAN-PT/akred/S/XI/2014. Second, Governmental Studies obtained the ‘A’ accreditation on June 18th, 2014 based on decree 176/SK/BAN PT/akred/S/VI/ 2014. Third, Communication Sciences accredited ‘A’ on October 3rd, 2013, based on decree No. 203/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-XVI/S/X/2013.
