Eko Priyo Purnomo
CURRICULUM VITAE Eko Priyo Purnomo I am interested in the process of policy making regarding natural resources management which puts focus on equal open access to natural resources and sustainability. I am especially interested in how to design and make alternative policy which can give way to natural resources exploitation while on the other hand sustain the development and livelihood of the community. I am considering that one basic problem in Indonesia is the unequal distribution of resources (money, authority, nature and knowledge) which are dominated by the state government. Looking at this problem, I will focus on developing community and managing natural resources with sustainable programs.
Currently, I am a lecturer at Government Affairs Department, Faculty Social and Political Science, University Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. I did my undergraduate study at government sciences Department and then Master degree at political sciences Department, Faculty Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia. These studies had laid out the basic understanding and perspectives on the governmental and environmental issues. Last year, I just finished for studying at the School of Earth and Environment, University of Leeds as a Master by Research student. All of my education activities were supported by many scholarships coming from domestic and international funding such as the Epson scholarship program, BPPS and The Ford Foundation. I realized that my master degree and professional experiences are not sufficient to understand the complex problem of the designs and making of alternative policy which concern natural resources exploitation as well as sustainable development issues. Moreover, I need to improve and have more in depth understanding of the issues from scientific and theoretical perspectives. That is the reason why I am doing my PhD program at the School of International Studies in University of Bradford, UK.
I believe it will open the network amongst international practitioners, and lecturers who work on the issues about policy making and its relevance with creating sustainable development. Enriching knowledge and theoretical perspectives are my desire. Consequently, if I can finish my PhD program, it could be useful for not only me but also my organization. I can share the knowledge to my colleagues and my students. Can be contacted eko@umy.ac.id |
