2 IGOV students, will participate in International Conference on Public Organization (ICONPO) on Mei, 11 2012.

International Program of Governmental Studies (IGOV) as a special class has proved their seriousness in educational development. 2 IGOV students, Febrianti Tentyana and Maratun Sa’adah will participate in International Conference on Public Organization (ICONPO) on Mei, 11 2012. They both will present their paper with a title ‘The impact of Organizational Structure and design toward public service quality performance’ as a study case in Licensing Department of Yogyakarta city.

The paper is indeed explained about organizational structure and design that implement in Licensing Department. Establishment of Regulation number 41 of 2007 arrange that the Licensing Department should be designed as an office in purpose to increasing the services quality. But, In Yogyakarta city, the licensing department designed as department that mean against the central regulation. In fact, at 2009 Yogyakarta city has awarded by Investment coordination bodies (BKPM) in cooperation with Autonomy implementation coordinating committee (KPPOD) as the best city for investment. While another city/ regions which implement the regulation number 40 of 2007 are not  show the significant of increasing service quality.

They try to analyze some differences in both two design (Department and Office) related to the organizational structure of Licensing Department that directly influence to the quality of officials performance. In the department design the coordinating pattern between all units inside integrated one to another, the unit – size and unit grouping are formed based on the service complexity. In conclude, the service quality can be increasing through the organizational design and structure.

ICONPO it self is an annual conference that will be held in each country of the co-organize university. Co – organizer for ICONPO are Korea University (Korea), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Universitas Ngurah Rai Denpasar (Indonesia), Universiti Utara Malaysia (Malaysia) and Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (Philippines). The conference aims at facilitating a dialogue and building a network between and among scholars and researchers worldwide to understand the theory and research of public administration in Asia.

Sa’adah and Tentyana will have a flight on May, 10. Beside them, some lecturer of IGOV will also participate in ICONPO such as Mr. Tujung Sulaksono S.IP, M.Si, Dr. Christoph Behrens and Dr. Achmad Nurmandi.

In the future, more IGOV students are expected to participate in such activities, national or International.
